The Liminal Lab is een overkoepelend kader voor artistiek onderzoek, opgebouwd rond vertaling, hybride archieven, thinking-in-the-middle en andere onderzoeksvragen die open blijven en zich verder ontwikkelen. Binnen dit kader ontstaan verschillende artistieke initiatieven die de veranderende betekenissen van objecten, materialen, landschappen en verhalen onderzoeken. In plaats van te functioneren als een vaste instelling, ontwikkelt The Liminal Lab zich door de projecten die het initieert. Elke nieuwe activatie breidt daarbij de methodes en het netwerk van samenwerkingspartners verder uit.

Het projectconcept werd ontwikkeld door Dareen Abbas en Cees Vossen. Het ontstond vanuit een gezamenlijk en inhoudelijk gedreven proces, waarbij elementen uit de artistieke praktijk van Dareen Abbas als uitgangspunt dienden.

The Liminal Lab is an umbrella framework for artistic research, built around translation, hybrid archives, thinking-in-the-middle, and other research questions that remain open and continue to unfold. Within this framework, diverse artistic initiatives emerge, exploring the shifting meanings of objects, materials, landscapes and narratives. Rather than existing as a fixed institution, The Liminal Lab develops through the projects it initiates, with each activation expanding its methods and network of collaborators.

The project concept was developed by Dareen Abbas and Cees Vossen. It emerged from a collaborative and content-driven process, drawing on elements of Dareen Abbas’s artistic practice.
